Description

The students build a physical pendulum, also called a bar pendulum. They compare the oscillation period of a bar pendulum with that of a thread pendulum and determine the reduced pendulum length. They learn about the dependence of the oscillation period on an additional weight at different points of the pendulum. In addition, the students derive the formula for the oscillation period of a bar pendulum and determine the acceleration due to gravity g from the oscillation period.
