Description

The students detect iron³⁺ ions with potassium ferricyanide (II) (yellow blood leach salt) by characteristic precipitation reactions. The detections are performed as a negative blind test with water, as a positive blind test with iron(III) chloride solution and as a detection from an analytical substance, in this case cigarette ash. This produces the dark blue, colloidal "Berlin Blue".
