Enzyme activity dependent on pH value

LB4.2.3.5
Enzyme activity dependent on pH value
Enzyme activity dependent on pH value

Description

In this experiment, the pH dependence of enzymes is explored by using catalase as an example. For this purpose, the catalytic cleavage of hydrogen peroxide by catalase is carried out at different pH values and the enzymatic activity is observed semi-quantitatively via the gas evolution. The students realise that the enzymatic activity is dependent on the prevailing pH value.
