Description

Soda-lime glass is the most commonly used glass. It is mainly used for packaging and glass bottles. In this experiment, the students are to make a small amount of soda-lime glass themselves. To do this, they mix sodium carbonate and calcium carbonate with quartz sand and heat this until red hot. In the process, the students recognise the materials from which glass is made and its properties.
